$5 February Classes

BEGINNER BALLET  (Ages 7-11)

This class is for kids with at least 2-3 years of ballet. Some concepts we will cover include:

short center exercises, beginner barre exercises, proper dance posture, and port de bras (movement of the arms).

CONDITIONING AND STRENGTH TRAINING  (Ages 10+)

This conditioning workshop will focus on strength-building exercises, stretching techniques to lengthen lines, and ways to improve turnout. Ms. Regine will provide specific exercises to stretch the hamstrings and lengthen muscles using the progressing ballet technique (PBT). She will help each student to build beautiful épaulement and improve their upper body posture. During this class, Ms. Regine will also demonstrate various ways to strengthen your lower back and abdomen, which in turn will allow students to develop high arabesques, front and side developpés. Please bring the following: A yoga block or a thick book, mini pilates ball or small yoga exercise ball, large exercise ball (Five Below sells them at a reasonable price), water bottle.

CONTEMPORARY  (Ages 12+)

In this class, students will explore various dance styles such as ballet, modern, and Haitian folk dance. This will help the dancers to connect their minds with their bodies and create fluid dance movements.

INTERMEDIATE BALLET  (Ages 12+)

This class will be at an intermediate level, however, beginners are welcome to come and challenge themselves! Make sure to have something stable to use as a barre and some space for stationary center work. We recommend a yoga mat to prevent injury during jumping exercises.

PRE-BALLET  (Ages 5-8)

Challenge your brain and your body to do something new!  All you need is something to hold onto to use as a ballet barre - a sturdy chair, countertop, fireplace, etc. Please wear socks or ballet slippers. Bring water to stay hydrated while you dance! Great for first-timers and those with little ballet experience.

PRE-POINTE AND POINTE  (Ages 11+)

This class should be taken in addition to a ballet class*. Pre-pointe and pointe students are both welcome.

*Morning Ballet or Intermediate Ballet are recommended.

This class combines different muscle lengthening exercises to tone the body by promoting long, lean muscles and lines kindred to a ballerina.
