Summer Dance Camps
ACRO & FLEXIBILITY FOR DANCERS
(AGES 8-11)
Our summer acro tumbling workshop follows the Acrobatic Arts syllabus which is based on safe and effective progressions within five divisions of acro dance: flexibility, strength, limbering, balance, and tumbling. Acrobatic Arts includes 12 levels of syllabus which are designed to progress the dancer through to higher skills safely and confidently. Students will enjoy working on skills such as headstands, forearm stands, chest stands, rolls, handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, aerials, back handsprings, and much more! All students will have the opportunity to work on skills within their level, and progress throughout the week. Acro dance is uniquely different from gymnastics in that it implements acrobatic floor and contortion skills seamlessly into dance on hard floor, rather than heavily sprung gym carpet. The technique is different because of this, and uniquely allows for creativity in variations of typically acrobatic movements. Dancers will gain strength, technique, and creativity throughout this fun and challenging workshop!
